A-ROD FINALLY GETS IN...
Today was the day, after 42 at bats at the plate, Yankees third basemen Alex Rodriguez finally hits home run 600 in front of a matinee crowd at Yankee Stadium. He became the youngest to hit the 600 HR mark, and is 7th on the all time home run list. Now finally A-Rod and the Yankees can finally focus on getting atop the AL East again, now that the pressure of 600 is off his back. Congrats A-Rod, stay focused.
OLD MAN BRETT CALLS IT QUITS?
Gearing up for the upcoming NFL season, once again Vikings QB Brett Farve who is currently recovering from off season ankle surgery was said by many sources that he sent out text messages to various players and some Vikings personnel that he was indeed retiring. For the third time he's talking retirement, which is nothing new. After news broke of such an announcement, reports were that the Vikings offered to add an extra $3-4 million dollars to his salary. Then Farve responded by saying I never sent out any text messages, that once again he wasn't sure if he was going retire. It had to do with this health and nothing else. Really Brett, then how come the Vikings offered more money if no text messages were sent out, along with players commenting about your possible departure? Stop being a diva and make up your damn mind, either play football or retire for good. You're killing what's left of your legacy my man. Its always about money gunslinger, your not fooling anyone, oh except the Vikings and coach Brad Childress who's lips seemed to be permanently attached to your ass.
SHAQ GETS DOWN IN BEANTOWN
Its confirmed that center Shaquille O'Neal is signed with the Boston Celtics for 2 years at the veterans minimum of about $3 million dollars. More than likely he will be coming off the bench with the earlier signing of Jermaine O'Neal due to the knee injury of Kendrick Perkins last season. Honestly its time to retire Shaq, this guy is lazy, he's a bit of a locker room distraction, and he doesn't have it anymore. Shaq stop being the Farve of the NBA, let it go. This signing does not make the Celtics a legit contender, if anything it makes them slower and the senior citizens of the NBA.
PAC-12 PLUS SOME...
The Pac-10 (aka Pac-12) is definitely under a new regime, with the recent unveiling a new logo and preparing the next season's Pac-12 championship & with the additions of Colorado and Utah deciding to leave their previous conferences. To further bridge the gap between the west coast and east coast writers, commissioner Larry Scott had the Pac 10 coaches take a tour of the east coast which included a stop at the ESPN studios in Bristol, CT. Which proved to be a huge success with the media and giving much needed exposer to a conference who has yet to get the respect that deserve as one of the major conference powerhouses. With USC cleaning up its act including removing all images of former players Reggie Bush and OJ Mayo, a new AD in Pat Hayes, things are starting to look bright again.
And yes USC will win the appeal from the NCAA infractions committee.
Don't think that in a couple of years that Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will eventually join the Pac 12, Larry Scott won't have it any other way.
SHERIFF JONES INSPECTS TROOPS
After last week's ankle injury to rookie WR Dez Bryant due to over excessive workouts in training camp, which prompted Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to have serious meeting with his coaching staff. It was in regards to the intense workouts and about one player in particular. Jones stated he was just concerned about the practices yet he's not interfering, and he trusts the coaching staffs judgment. Bryant is schedule to be out of action for 4-6 weeks. He’s not scheduled to return until the first week of the NFL regular season. Dez heal up and hurry back, the Cowboys will need you, trust me with or without shoulder pads.
